Phillip Peter has more than seven years’ experience in information and communication technologies, programming, systems administration, networking, and security. He is currently the Network and Hardware Infrastructure Manager at the University of Zimbabwe where he is responsible for managing, maintaining, monitoring, and securing the sturdy University wired and wireless network using a mix of mature open-source technologies, and Cisco Network Equipment. Phillip holds a Bachelor of Business Studies and Computing Science degree from the University of Zimbabwe, volunteers as head coach of the university’s Basketball Club, and has led the men's basketball team to two Zimbabwe Tertiary Institution Sports Union championships. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Phillip plans to continue active leadership in ICT through setting up a consultancy for universities in Zimbabwe and Africa to manage, monitor, and secure their ICT networks using mature open-source technologies, and to hold security workshops with Zimbabwean universities.
